i'm a doctor,
not a physicist!"
- is supposedly a quote from star trek (2009), the movie.
while engaged in a conversation that was fast becoming heated, a friend took that quote from that movie and inserted it in, with his own spin to it, of course.
reading melville, i came across a line of his in moby dick that vaguely recalls that quote and i wonder if star trek's scriptwriter had not somehow borrowed from him.
melville in page 168, while speaking of cetology: I am the architect, not the builder.
melville was first! (so he has first dibs, hehe)
more melvillisms:
"For small erections may be finished by their first architects; grand ones, true ones, ever leave the copestone to posterity."
"This whole book is but a draught - nay, but the draught of a draught."
"Oh, Time, Strength, Cash, and Patience!"
-all from page 159, Moby-Dick
P.S.
ang galing ng pagkasulat ng Chapter 34 The Cabin-Table...funny and interesting depiction...=)
