There's a heartache that comes with being alone. And that heartache means many different things and is felt in many different ways. You can always try to deal with it but for some reason, it never really goes away.

I take the route of acceptance when it comes to dealing. It breeds equanimity. When you realize you're supposed to feel sad, you don't feel the pressure to be happy, you'll feel pretty much better. And when you have the time, you can always play a song. That's what songwriters and recording artists make them available for.

I lamented to my boardmates before: My Korean students don't laugh at my jokes. I pouted. "What jokes?" they asked. "Well," I explained. "My student and I were discussing an article about superstitions. And I asked him if he was superstitious. He said yes. valentines 2011

I had almost forgotten that it was valentines that day. I tried to recall how I spent last year's valentines but for a moment, my mind was blank until it came to me that I had spent it at the Hot Air Balloon Festival held in Subic that year. I was with Clyde, Cherry, Maricel, Cress, et al. that day. I got off the tricycle at our gate to find my brother's car waiting for its passengers. We were going to head off to this swimming pool resort called Bethany - me, my sister, Ate Irene, Ate Ruth, Ruro, Renz and Manoy Rudyard. What was the occasion, I wondered. Oh, it was valentines. I had forgotten. I hurriedly got into the house, debated whether to take my laptop or the portable DVD player, then decided on the latter, not wanting to risk my precious laptop getting wet in the event that it might.
